A soldier was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted by four women for nearly a week before being stoned and dumped in a mountain range.

The 25-year-old victim's ordeal started when he took up the offer of a lift to the city of Mutare in Zimbabwe.

Two women and a man were in the car, a Mercedes Benz, and, after driving for about an hour towards the city, the driver diverted from the route.

When the victim complained, he was threatened with a knife.

Manicaland police spokesman, Assistant Inspector Nuzondiwa Clean, told Zimbabwean paper NewsDay: 'After diverting from the route, the complainant asked where they were heading to and they told him they were going to get some food.

'The soldier requested to be dropped, but the driver produced a knife and threatened him with it. One of the female passengers blindfolded the complainant with a black cloth.'

According to Mr Clean, they then took the complainant to an unknown house where they undressed him and took away his phone and $35.

The suspects ordered the man to be intimate with one of the women on several occasions and he was held between April 19-23.

He was then blindfolded again and dropped in the Dangamvura Mountains when, according to police, he was stoned on his left foot, causing a serious injury.

The suspect then drove off.

The soldier made a report at Sakubva Police Station, prompting investigations, and the suspects are now being hunted.

Jonathan, Okonjo-Iweala Tip Aig-Imoukhuede As Next CBN Governor.

Sources close to President Goodluck Jonathan that Aigboje I. Aig-Imoukhuede, the controversial head of Access Bank Plc, has been tipped to succeed current Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi at the helm of Nigeria's Central Bank.

"If all goes as planned, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede will become the next Governor of the Central Bank," one of our sources said. Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede, the Group Managing Director of Access Bank Plc, also enjoys the support of Nigeria's Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said one source.

The banker, whose closeness to both Mr. Jonathan and Ms.Okonjo-Iweala is well known, is regarded within Nigeria's financial circles as a controversial figure who has remained unscathed because of his high-powered political contacts.

Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede's ties to Mr. Jonathan and Nigeria's Finance Minister have helped him obscure his bank's widespread and obscene involvement in the $6 billion oil subsidy scam that rocked Nigeria last year.

A top level Nigerian financial analyst with deep knowledge of the oil sector told SaharaReporters that Mr. Aig-Imoukhuedeand his bank "should have been on the hot seat over their role in the fuel subsidy fraud." Instead, the analysts said, President Jonathan appointed the banker to a committee that enabled Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede and Access Bank to escape critical searchlight

A source told SaharaReporters that current CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has expressed a desire not to seek a second term at the end of his current five-year tenure.

Mr. Sanusi's term as Nigeria's current governor of the CBN is due toexpire in April, 2014. Last year, President Jonathan appointed Mr. Aig Imoukhuede to chair a committee on fuel subsidies. The appointment helped the banker to cover up his bank's involvement in the oil subsidy scam.

*Dino's car after the attack (Inset) Dino Melaye

In an interview over the alleged attempt on his life, Melaye who expressed indignation over the alleged cold response by the Police at the check point towards his complaint to them, said it was the FCT Director of the Department of state security and an Assistant Commissioner of Police that came to his rescue.

He said that there were threats to his life before the incident and that he had reported the threat to the Inspector General of Police and had sought for police protection; though his letter was acknowledged, nothing had been done.

Giving account of what happened the Monday night, he sai: "Basically, I was coming from the National Hospital and I noticed shortly after the bridge before the ICPC, a certain black Golf car which got close and overtook me in a very dangerous manner.

"I had to stop for the car to drive far ahead before I continued. Shortly after ChurchGate Building I noticed the same car from afar parked by the end of the road with all the four doors opened and there was light inside but no one was inside.

"I was approaching a bend that will take you to the twin towers of the NNPC. At that point I just heard sporadic shooting, maybe to the air or whatever. I accelerated my drive. As I was approaching the last bend I just heard gun shot at my car.

"At that point, I ran to the next police checkpoint. I told them to make a radio call that I had just escaped an assassination attempt and that the assailants were in a Golf car and that they should block all routes.

"Unfortunately, the police said where the incident happened was not their beat. I said you are a federal police, okay, make a radio call that this is the complaint so that the police around there can cordon that area off, but they did not."

My husband returned to Asaba about the same time Nneka came back from her Ibadan trip.

Boko Haram Ambushes Returning WAEC Students And Principal And Slits Their Throats In Broad Daylight.

Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State is about putting behind it the recent killing of six secondary school teachers, including a principal, the local government was again plunged into mourning as many students were, on Saturday, murdered in cold blood by some gunmen suspected to be members of the Jama'atul Ahlis Sunnah Lid' Awati, also known as Boko Haram.
It was learnt that the gunmen killed many students of Monguno Secondary School by slitting their throats, after laying an ambush for them as they returned home from centres where they wrote the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Monguno is 135 kilometres North of Maiduguri, the state capital; and it is considered to be an epicentre of activities of the Islamist sect.

The gunmen, according to a villager, Mallam Aisami, ambushed the candidates on their way home on foot and bicycles. He added that the assailants tied the students' hands together at their backs and slit their throats on the foot paths leading to the school premises in the afternoon.

He said when the dastardly deed had been done, the gunmen fled on three motorcycles towards Marte Local Government Area of Northern Borno before men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) rushed to the scene three hours after the students were already slewn.

Spokesman of JTF, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, and the Borno State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Musa Inuwa Kubo, confirmed the incident on Saturday.

They stated that it was a very "unfortunate and frightening incident," decrying all that had been happening in the state.

Sagir and Kubo could, however, not ascertain the exact number of students allegedly killed by the suspects at Monguno.

Kubo, in a telephone interview, told journalists that; "I am calling on the people of Borno State to continue to pray and fast so that the incessant attacks and killings in the state cease peace and unity are restored

MEND Threatens To Bomb Mosques & Assasinate Imams.

Nigeria's Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta said it will start a bombing campaign against mosques and Islamic institutions, a week after the rebel group said it killed 15 security personnel in the southern oil-producing Bayelsa state.
"The bombings of mosques, haj camps, Islamic institutions, large congregations in Islamic events and assassinations of clerics that propagate doctrines of hate will form the core mission of this crusade," MEND spokesman Jomo Gbomo said in an e-mailed statement today. The campaign, codenamed "Barbarossa," will start May 31, it said.
MEND may consider a cease-fire if the Christian Association of Nigeria, the Catholic Church and the group's suspected leader Henry Okah intervene, according to the statement. The threat comes as the government of President Goodluck Jonathan battles Islamist militants in the mainly Muslim north and the capital, Abuja, in which hundreds of people have died since 2009.
MEND, the main rebel group in the the area, destroyed a Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA) oil well in Nembe in southern Bayelsa state yesterday as part of an operation it calls "Hurricane Exodus," Gbomo said.
Precious Okolobo, a Lagos-based spokesman for Shell's Nigerian unit, said he couldn't confirm the attack when contacted by phone today.
Claimed Attack
MEND said April 3 it would resume attacks in Africa's largest oil producer after Okah was sentenced last month to 24 years in prison in South Africa. He was found guilty of 13 counts of terrorism, including a bombing claimed by MEND in which 12 people died in Abuja on Oct. 1, 2010.
On April 10, Nigerian authorities recovered 10 bodies of policemen killed four days earlier in an attack on a boat by gunmen in the oil-rich Niger River delta, Bayelsa state Police Commissioner Kingsley Omire said.
Three policemen and the boat driver jumped in the river in the southern state when gunmen opened fire and were later rescued, Omire said. The attack was claimed by MEND, which said it killed all 15 people aboard.
Shell, Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM), Chevron Corp. (CVX), Total SA and Eni SpA (ENI) run joint ventures with state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. that pump most of the country's oil. Nigeria depends on crude exports for more than 95 percent of foreign income and 80 percent of government revenue, according to the Petroleum Ministry.
While Okah denies being a leader of MEND, he has said he commands the support of many armed factions in Nigeria's oil region.
Attacks including kidnappings and bombing of oil installations by groups including MEND cut more than 28 percent of Nigeria's oil output between 2006 and 2009, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The violence declined after thousands of fighters accepted a government amnesty offer in 2009 and disarmed.

Tensions as Soldiers Invade Police Station in Mokola,Ibadan.

People scampered for safety at Mokola area of Ibadan on Thursday as police officers shot sporadically after some soldiers stormed their station in the afternoon.

The soldiers, who came on motorcycles, reportedly beat and manhandled the police officers they met at the station in order to avenge an alleged brutality inflicted on one of their colleagues on Wednesday by policemen.

The affected soldier was said to be a victim of a 'stop and search' operation usually embarked upon by officers of the police station every night in front of their Mokola office.

The soldier was reportedly shot on the ankle for refusing to heed the order of a police officer who stopped his vehicle.

The development infuriated his colleagues, who stormed the station and manhandled policemen on duty, beating them with belts for few minutes before they left for their barracks.

Officers at the station called for re-enforcement, which did not arrive until the soldiers left.

As at late afternoon, the mobilised policemen had taken over some strategic areas close to the station, shooting sporadically and causing traffic gridlock.

Police sources said a soldier was later arrested and was taken to the police headquarters in handcuffs.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Ilobanafor, confirmed the incident.

She said the soldier that was arrested has been handed over to Army authorities.

4 Policemen Arraigned For Allegedly Killing 2 Over N50.

FOUR police officers were, yesterday, arraigned before a high court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for allegedly killing two persons and shooting another in the foot over a failed attempt to extort N50 from a bus driver.

The suspects, ASP Omorogbe, Inspector Emmason Udo, Hadiza Musa and Samirah Ileya of the Abacha Road Police Station, Obia/Akpor locality of Port Harcourt were alleged to have shot the victims sometimes in 2010 while the driver of the commercial bus in which the victims were riding attempted to escape from the policemen who demanded N50 from him at a check point.

They were said to have been arrested on the orders of then Police Commissioner who insisted on their being tried for alleged killings.

In the suit No PHC/858/2010 filed against the suspects, the applicant, Ifeanyi Echemazu, whose mother in-law was shot in the leg said he took the action to pursue justice for his mother-in-law and the two passengers who died during the ordeal.

"The suspects thought nobody was alive to testify against them in this matter, but Mrs. Christiana Aliko who was hit on the leg is here to testify that those who boarded the vehicle were passengers and not robbers as the suspects claimed," Mr Chidi Ekah, counsel to the applicant told the court.

He added that the driver of the commercial bus whose resistance to the alleged N50 extortion provoked the fatal shooting is also alive to tell the story.

Justice Georgewill of State High Court who presided over the hearing, however, adjourned the matter to April 23, 2013 to allow the applicant and defence counsel time to present more witnesses.

Dead Delicacies: The Man Who Eats Roadkills.

72-year-old Arthur Boyt from Bodmin Moor, England is an unusual man who eats unusual food. His preference in meat leans towards roadkill – the dead animals that lie on the side of highways after being hit by speeding vehicles. This has earned him a bad reputation, but he just considers it a waste to eat anything else.

Over the years, Boyt has taken on the fancy title of 'Roadkill Connoisseur'. "I am often asked how did this all begin," he says in an interview. "After 1976, when I was living on my own, I didn't have to bother with anybody else's feelings in the matter. The food was there to be bought home and eaten. I would pick up roadkill in those days to bring home, I'm a taxidermist, I skin things and stuff them. And instead of throwing the body away, I decided to start eating them. I think that's how it came about." Boyt isn't queasy about eating a lot of things, including Polecats, whose meat he says has a vile stink. But he's figured out a way to get rid of the nasty smell – just place the meat under running water for four days, and it's good to eat for him. He's eaten badgers and once even a swan, which "tasted like mud." One of his favorites is Labrador. "It has a pleasant taste and flavor that is a bit like lamb. It turns people off when I say that Labrador is my favorite thing to eat but the point is, I would never kill an animal." True enough, Boyt is not a wasteful person by nature. "I don't believe in waste," he says. "I'm a freegan, I try to eat all my meals for free."

Boyt keeps a large freezer in his garage, where he stores finds from various 'roadkill hunts'. In it, you can find all sorts of rare animals and birds like hedgehogs, barn owls, snipes, sparrows, varieties of reptiles, badgers, cats, buzzards and more. "I have occasionally hit an animal myself, by accident," he admits. "But I never aim to kill an animal. I do my utmost to avoid it. I come across it in my regular or irregular journeys." Boyt says he doesn't eat everything that he finds, but there are very few things in his country that he wouldn't eat, not even bats. He even goes on to comment on cannibalism. "I don't think it's for me to make comments about other people being cannibals, but if I were in a situation where there was human flesh available and it might sustain me or others with me, I would have no compunction about eating it, all right?" He hasn't done it so far though, and when his own cat died Boyt buried it. "I didn't eat it. Um, if my wife found out, what would I say?"

Mrs. Boyt is a vegetarian. Despite being married for about 10 years, she doesn't exactly like this sort of thing. "When I first met Sue, I offered to drive her to an orienteering event," says Mr. Boyt. "I remember jamming on my brakes for a dead pheasant and her expressing slight concern. When I eat roadkill, she tends to take her food upstairs so as to avoid a row." Miraculously, Boyt says he's never been ill from eating roadkill. He has been ill from eating food at a buffet, but his beloved roadkill has never let him down so far. "If it's well cooked, I think there is very little chance of any bugs, bacteria surviving."

Death In A Well: Tragic end Of Two Friends.

On March 21, 2013 in Yelwa Makaranta Community, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.
The tragic incident happened at the residence of one Alhaji Nuhu Dalhatu who gave the contract of cleaning the well in his house to one Ibrahim Jibrin and Ibrahim called his friend, Usman Ali, 35, to assist him to clean the well. Tragedy, however, struck when Ibrahim decided to take a generator into the well to power the pumping machine. This turned out to be a tragic error for him when the fumes emitted by the generator began to circulate in the well. He subsequently lost consciousness.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said: "When Ibrahim started the generator, he gradually began to lose consciousness because of the fumes coming out of the generator.

We observed that he was no longer moving but later heard him saying: 'Help me, I am losing my strength'. After sometime we did not hear anything from him again. It was at this point that his friend, Usman, who invited him for the job, decided to enter the well to bring out his dying friend.

Loss of consciousness

We cautioned him not to go into the well because we were afraid of what might happen to him. He refused to listen to us and entered the well".

The eyewitness added that when Usman got into the well, he was able to hoist Ibrahim on his shoulder and had almost succeeded in bringing out his friend when he also lost consciousness and fell back into the well.

That was how the two of them died. A brave attempt by one Dan Asabe Shehu to rescue the doomed men proved abortive as Dan was forced to abandon the idea when he also found himself losing consciousness on entering the well.

By this time, news of the tragic adventure of the two men had spread through the community and it was greeted with pandemonium and rage. The youths of the area immediately went on rampage, throwing stones on the vehicle of the men of the Bauchi State Fire Service who came to the scene in order to evacuate the bodies of the victims from the well.

The men of the Fire Service, it was learnt, handed the corpses over to the police who conveyed same to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Hosiptal.

Cleaning of the well

When reporters visited the residence of Alhaji Nuhu Dalhatu, he was said to be still in shock over the tragic incident. But this did not stop him from saying that if he had known that the cleaning of the well would lead to the death of two people, he would have called it off, adding that he allowed the job to go on because he was not God and could not predict what would happen.

According to him: "I gave the contract of cleaning the well in my compound to Ibrahim Jibrin because the well was very dirty and I have not been using it for two years. Ibrahim accepted to do the job because he was a specialist in cleaning well for people. I was not even aware that he invited his friend to assist him with the job.

That day when I returned from work, I met the vehicle of the Fire Service at the front of my house, I became afraid because I thought one of my children had fallen into the well. I enquired and was told that two men died inside the well".

The late Ibrahim's friend, Dan Asabe Shehu, who also narrowly escaped death, narrated what transpired that fateful day.

According to him: "I was in my shop doing my work as a tailor when I learnt that two men working inside a well needed help. So I volunteered to go and see what I could do to save the situation. On getting to the scene, I was told that the men were still stuck inside the well.

At first I though I could save them, but as I was going inside the well, I began to lose consciousness and so I decided to come out. The people around the well assisted me to come out because I was very weak and feeling faint. All I could remember later was finding myself in the hospital bed with drips attached to my body. I was lucky to survive the incident".

At the late Ibrahim's residence in Bayara village, his two wives and aged mother were still mourning his death. Ibrahim's mother, Hajiya Talatu Hamisu, said the incident was like a bad dream because on that fateful day he(Ibrahim) initially did not wanted to go and do the job, but later changed his mind.

She said: "On that day, he was at home and received a call from his friend inviting him to go and clean the well. He initially told his friend to leave the job for the following day. But later changed his mind and decided to go ahead with it. He left the house and told one of his wives to cook his favourite meal. I did not know that was the last time I will set my eyes on my son again. It is very painful for us in the family, but we have to bear it because it is his time to die".
It was gathered that Usman was making plans to get married before the unfortunate incident occurred. His friend.
